Welcome to the McGill Surface Engineering and Coating Tribology Laboratory!

Our focus is to develop surface engineering solutions to enhance materials sustainability in a variety of industries, including hydropower, aerospace and space technology. To engineer more sustainable and reliable materials and coatings it is required to first to understand the mechanisms affecting the friction and wear or materials in tribological contact. Secondly, when materials are placed in extreme operating environments, we develop surface engineering solutions to mitigate wear and control friction.
